LIFESAVER have sponsored four intrepid cyclists with LIFESAVER bottles as they embark on their trip to Rwanda at the end of April.
Four riders are taking a huge risk in an unsupported ride of 6000 miles across harsh terrain, extreme temperatures and ever-changing altitude but no longer have to worry about drinking contaminated water but can gather dirty water and clean it with their LIFESAVER bottles.
The Cycle to Rwanda challenge is part of the Sport for Rwanda fundraising appeal. The money raised is due to be distributed by the charity Rwandan Aid and the appeal aims to raise £80,000 by 2012 to provide 140 schools with country sports equipment and training materials to introduce sports to the Rwandan educational curriculum.
On 28th April 2012, the four cyclists will leave Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and cycle 6000 miles to the capital of Rwanda, Rigali. This will take them through 12 countries in just 70 days by bike from the UK to Rwanda to raise thousands of pounds in sponsorship.
The team aims to arrive in time to accompany the Rwandan Olympic team on their journey to Bury St Edmunds.
