Thank you to those who gave to the LIFESAVER systems Nepal donation appealThank you to everyone that donated to the LIFESAVER systems Nepal appeal for those people affected by the Nepal earthquake. You have provided clean water to those that need it most.
We have been overwhelmed by all of the support given which enables us, working with partners on the ground to send lifesaving equipment to people that need it most.
How families will benefit from your donationAll of the funds received through our Nepal donation appeal are enabling us to send a total of 215 LIFESAVER water filtration units to those affected by the devastating Nepal earthquake. With each cube capable of producing 5,000 litres and each LIFESAVER Jerrycan, 15,000 litres, a total of 1,425,000 litre of clean safe drinking water can be produced by families and their communities. LIFESAVER products are being distributed on the ground by two organisations - you can read more about them below....
Oxfam in NepalOxfam are working to distribute 180 LIFESAVER cubes into regions of Nepal heavily affected by the earthquake. LIFESAVER systems work with Oxfam regularly to distribute LIFESAVER cubes to individuals, families and communities in need of clean, safe water. The cube was developed with consultation from Oxfam in 2011 as part of their Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) response.
Folkestone Rotary, Folkestone Gurkha Memorial Fund & Maiti Nepal35 LIFESAVER Jerrycans have been despatched to Kakarvitta in Eastern Nepal, a regional office of a Nepalese charity called Maiti Nepal. This link has been established by the Rotary Club of Folkestone and the Folkestone Gurkha Memorial Fund based in the UK. Kakarvitta is a small town of approximately 16,000 people, the aim is to provide as many of these people with as much clean water as is possible. Whilst responding to the recent earthquake, Maiti Nepal also work in the areas of trafficking, child protection, health protection and water.
Why the cube and Jerrycan are so good for humanitarian assistance
- Filters out ALL microbiological bacteria and viruses from water
- Provides a family of four with clean water for 1 year
- Extremely easy to use
- Portable and small, the cube is ideal for displaced or transient communities
- Dirty water is sealed in the cube, preventing contamination and secondary disease spread (e.e Malaria)
