Mary Ann pours clean water from her LIFESAVER cube for her daughter Lem.
Mary Ann Papong lives in Osmenia with her seven-year old daughter, Lem. The family collects water from a hand-pump, which is a 5-minute walk from their house.
Mary Ann and her family received a LIFESAVER cube and LIFESAVER jerrycan in February 2014, three months after typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines.
Mary Ann says:
“Lem always used to get diarrhoea and we would have to go to the hospital to get medicine. The medication cost 40 PHP (around 0.54 GBP) per treatment. Now we use the jerrycan (and LIFESAVER cube), Lem doesn’t get sick. Look at her (laughing) she’s well and has lots of energy. I would like to express my gratitude. Thank you - you helped us a lot”.
How can you help?
LIFESAVER’s Buy 1, Gift 1 initiative helps support those families who are without access to clean safe drinking water. Purchase a LIFESAVER cube for your own use and at the same time we will donate another to a family in need. Each LIFESAVER cube produces up to 5,000 litres of clean water and will provide a family of five with clean safe drinking water for 11 months.
