When we think about Water Poverty - what do we actually mean? Well, we don't necessarily mean having no water - far from it, we mean having no clean, sterile, fresh water in which to use and consume. Some people surrounded by water are suffering from water poverty because the water is infested with disease and dirt and they cannot drink it.
Water purification is vital when it comes to consumption - but for years we have been 'sending' water to those who need it the most, and this has worked, but does not solve the problem, but makes them dependent on aid. The cost to buy water, box it up, put it on a pallet, then ship it internationally is hugely expensive. Once it arrives at the destination, it then needs to be moved to the town/village in need. The whole time being a target and potentially able to be stolen or controlled. A bottle of water gives someone enough water for a couple of hours, and in extreme heat and deprivation, maybe only an hour. Then what happens? More is needed.
Mother nature has an amazing transportation system - the clouds. She allows water to be moved from one place to the next and collected. However, due to agricultural run off, the water will still contain bacteria and clean water cannot be stored - it will get dirty! So this is where LIFESAVER comes in. The water needed to drink is already in the area - in the clouds, in the streams, rivers and lakes. LIFESAVER technology enables the filtration of that existing water to happen and filters out the disease, dirt and grime to produce sterile drinking water.
The cost of sending water all over the world and the dependence it places on the agencies delivering it has to stop. Adding chemicals like chlorine or salts is just putting more chemicals into the water, and the use of power, UV light or sun, does not kill any where near enough disease and bacteria to ensure the water is able to be consumed safely. The LIFESAVER bottle enables all of this to happen in three simple steps - fill, pump, drink.
