Thanks to LIFESAVER and their customers we donated 12 gifted bottles to Mother Health International over a month ago. I approached them to see if they would like some bottles. Just in case you need a bit of background.
‘Alo Lifestream water filters employees’
I am a healthcare practitioner that is honored to work to improve the health and welfare of the Haitian people through a grant that Direct Relief has sponsored. I am a traditional midwife that has been asked to go throughout the country helping to improve the skills of the matrons and patrons who help deliver 85% of Haiti's babies who are still born at home. These are the people who have a great impact in the healthcare of Haitian people and are in my opinion the heart and soul of amazingly resilient people.
Clean water is essential , with many healthcare practitioners believing cleaning the water is the solution as opposed to a vaccination to prevent cholera .
The recent donations of your water filters were given to each community that we worked with. We found that within 40 minutes one of our Haitian women could make five gallons o f clean water for our upcoming training that day.
I will be coming back many more times and have asked Direct Relief to assist us by bringing more filters into Haiti and they have agreed. At each workshop there are twenty five to thirty matrons that represent their communities. Most of them walked hours to get to this training of updating their birth delivery skills, some up to seven hours. I can tell you each community could use water filters.
As we all know pictures can show us the truth and the heart and soul of a people. I have asked each community if we could share these photos. I say a big mesi to the people of Ayiti for these photos.
With appreciation and respect for your work in cleaning our gift of water,
Clare Loprinzi, Traditional Midwife , CPM
